One of my favorite things about Spring is working on my garden. I’ve prepped the raised beds, picked out my flowers and veggies, and enjoyed the process of getting my hands dirty and planting everything.
But there’s one part I don’t love… Weeding.
It’s not glamorous. It’s not exciting. It takes time, patience, and consistency. But if I skip it, all the hard work I put into prepping, planting, and watering starts to fall apart. The weeds slowly take over—and before long, they’re competing with everything I actually want to grow.
It got me thinking… this is exactly how our health and fitness works.
We put in the effort:
-
- We take our pre-workout, creatine, and supplements
- We pick out our gym outfits (arguably the best part)
- We sign up for class and show up
- We push ourselves during the workout
- We drink our protein shake after
But are we taking care of the weeds? Are we:
- Still eating foods high in sugar and processed fats?
- Staying up too late, sacrificing sleep for one more episode?
- Holding onto habits like smoking or excessive drinking?
- Letting stress go unmanaged?
If these weeds are left unchecked, they can quietly undo all the effort we’re putting into the gym.
You can have the best workout routine in the world—but if the weeds take over, it becomes harder and harder for your “good habits” to thrive.
Spring is a season of growth, renewal, and fresh starts.
So here’s your challenge: What is one thing you can weed out of your life this month? What small change can you make to better tend to your health garden?
It doesn’t have to be everything at once. Just start with one.
Because just like in the garden, it’s not about perfection—it’s about consistent care.
