If I start lifting weights, will I get big and bulky?
This is a common concern for most people when starting out an exercise program. Especially with ladies!
We exercise for our health and to get fit, but for the majority of the population… we just want to look better naked. We want to feel good about our bodies, and we want to feel confident in our own skin.
The truth is, the people that have big bulging muscles have been lifting and eating for size for years! It does not happen overnight, again this is intentional daily training and habits to promote the “bulk”.
Testosterone has hand in growth as well, which is why it’s easier for men to build bigger muscle mass then most women.
A short answer is NO, lifting weights is not going to make you bulky. In fact, lifting weights is important to creating that leaner body!
But shouldn’t I just do cardio if I want to lose body fat?
While cardio is a great way to initially burn calories, increasing your muscle mass will boost your metabolism, which will help you burn calories faster and for a longer period of time. This is because muscle helps burn more calories than fat does.
The best way to achieve a lean fit body, is by combining cardio, light and heavy lifting, and a healthy diet.
